Pat not only picked up the torch from Mike Gesicki, but took the tight end position to a new level with his deadly combination of receiving and blocking abilities. Despite playing in only four games last season, he still was named to the first team of the all-Big Ten offense.
The pair of tight ends who have picked up the torch from Pat in Brenton Strange and Theo Johnson will be part of the “days until” countdown before the end of the week. The transition will likely be a smooth one, considering that Pat suffered a season-ending injury halfway through the 2020 slate, forcing Strange and Johnson into more frequent action, where they showed great promise.
